Herbert’s exceptional talent was recognized in 1960 when he won three awards from the Furniture Makers’ Guild for a sideboard and two tables, including one from the esteemed Fonseca range. As the late 1960s approached, Herbert, alongside Alan Pledge—who joined the team in 1967/68—embarked on an exciting new direction for the company, leading to the successful design and launch of the Toledo range in 1972.
